Whirlwind Wellington
SUPPORT FOR MEN IN THE CAPITAL
It is with immense pride and no shortage of excitement that we are now able to announce the inaugural Whirlwind Wellington gathering and meal, which will take place this Wednesday 7th of October at the Paramount Cinema Café in Courtney Place.
Building on the great success of the monthly meals held in Kapiti, we are extremely fortunate that Michael Wignall and Peter Crosland, two Wellingtonians with a passion for helping men connect and engage in authentic, BS-free conversation, have kindly volunteered to coordinate Wellington based gatherings.
WELLINGTON WHIRLWIND IS BORN
Whirlwind Wellington will host monthly meetings for men to come and share time, stories, laughter and troubles with other likeminded blokes. All comers are welcome – there is only one rule: leave the bullshit at the door.

Michael & Peter– A Brief Introduction
“We are Michael Wignall and Peter Crosland living in Wellington, New Zealand, and we have been actively involved with men’s support networks in Wellington over the past twenty years. Both of us have a keen interest in using our skills, knowledge and experience in order to make a difference to other men’s lives in the Wellington region.
The goal is to help enable men to access powerful resources for personal discovery and growth, through the sharing of their own stories with other men. Hearing real stories from real men helps us accept ourselves more and we learn how valuable male friendship can be in moving our lives forward.
Why men? Because men are not traditionally very good at coming forward and embracing this kind of challenge; at dropping below the surface of feelings and talking about what really matters. As a result, men can often turn to other methods of ‘coping’, which can potentially lead to destructive behaviour affecting not only themselves but also those around them.
The hope is that men will be inspired by reading and listening to other men’s stories and recognise it really is OK not to feel OK. They may also be moved to share their own stories and just maybe find the inspiration to hope, to make changes, or to do something different that will enhance their lives and the lives of those around them.”
